The University of Iowa volleyball dropped a hard-fought, three-set match to Denver on Sept. 18, in the game of the Mile High Invitational.

In dropping their final non-conference match of the season 25-22, 25-16, 25-23, the Lady Hawkeyes got strong performances from Courtney Buzzerio, 15 kills; Bailey Ortega, 29 assists and Maddie Slagle, 8 digs.

Afterwards, Denver celebrated their feat and said in a Twitter post, “Iowa found out NOTHING comes easy around the net against us.”

While Buzzerio’s strong outing continued her streak of double figure kills in every game this season, Hannah Clayton also moved to 15th all-time in program history with 270 blocks.

The Hawkeyes opened Big 10 play against visiting Illinois at Xtream Arena on Sept. 22. The game was televised live on the Big Ten Network.

The Denver Pioneers (9-1) hosted Western Illinois in their Summit League opener on Sept. 23.
