Waterloo Community School District is still finalizing its reopening plan as the 2020-20201 school year draws near, Iowa’s News Now reported.
The school districts had until July 1 to submit their Return to Learn plan, but Waterloo CSD Superintendent, Dr. Jane Lindaman, said that the plans aren’t set in stone just yet. What is known is that the district is moving forward with the hybrid method, which offers in-person and online learning.
"When school starts, we fully anticipate we will have kids back in our buildings and we also fully anticipate we will have some students who will be learning remotely," Dr. Lindaman told Iowa's News Now.
The Return to Learn strategy continues to evolve as details about the COVID-19 spread continues to be available. Dr. Lindaman said ideally, the final plan would be in place by early next month.
Classes will start on Aug. 24, and the staff that is already back at work have undergone screenings. The district has also ordered masks and face shields for its students and faculty.
