The Waterloo Community School District has finalized mask guidelines as the upcoming school year approaches, reports Iowa's News Now.
As previously announced, masks or face shields are mandatory for all staff and students to be able to attend school.
The district will provide a minimum of two masks for each student and staff member. Students are allowed to bring masks from home, but must comply with mask guidelines as follows.
Masks must fully cover both the nose and mouth. Masks must be a solid color or adorned with simple patterns (stripes, plaid, tie-dye, polka dot, floral, etc.). Clear masks or face shields will also be allowed.
With the exception of masks displaying school colors, mascots or school names, masks that have images, disruptive/offensive graphics, or slogans and phrases are prohibited.
Classes are currently scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 24. The school district currently has provisions in place for students to attend school in person or receive virtual instruction remotely.
