Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, recently posted several updates on her social media account regarding crime in Washington D.C., support for small businesses, and her ongoing outreach tour across Iowa.

On August 11, 2025, Hinson commented on public safety in the nation’s capital, stating: "Violent crime is rampant in our nation’s capital. Under President Trump's leadership, DC will be safe and beautiful again for its residents & visitors after years of soft-on-crime policies."

The following day, she expressed gratitude toward a fellow official for engaging with local business owners: "Thank you to @SBA_Kelly for making the trip to Cedar Rapids to hear from our small business community. While the Biden Administration suffocated small businesses with burdensome red tape & taxes, President Trump and Administrator Loeffler are empowering them to thrive." This message reflects her ongoing critique of current federal policies and endorsement of previous Trump administration initiatives related to economic development.

Later that same day, Hinson shared an update about her continued efforts to connect with constituents throughout her district: "The 22 County Tour continued in Allamakee, Winneshiek, Fayette, and Clayton counties. I will continue to travel to every corner of #IA02 to connect with Iowans."

Ashley Hinson has served as the representative for Iowa's 2nd congressional district since defeating Abby Finkenauer in 2020 and taking office in 2021. Prior to joining Congress, she served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 through 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion, Hinson holds a BA from the University of Southern California.
