Ashley Hinson, U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district, recently shared updates on her official X account regarding visits to educational institutions, immigration policy messages from political leaders, and legislative efforts on childcare costs.
On August 6, 2025, Hinson posted about her visit to Upper Iowa University in Fayette: "Had an incredible visit at @UpperIowa in Fayette! We visited the commons and then ventured over to tour the new, state-of-the-art learning lab and Baker-Hebron Science Hall. I’m grateful for the role they play in meeting the needs of students across all locations, and I look".
Later that day, she commented on recent statements by President Trump and Governor Reynolds concerning immigration policy: "The message President Trump and Governor Reynolds are sending is clear: There’s a right way and wrong way to come to the greatest country in the world. Hinson has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Abby Finkenauer. Before her tenure in Congress began that year, she represented constituents in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 through 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion at age 39, Hinson graduated with a BA from the University of Southern California in 2004.
