Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa's 2nd district, shared her perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her stance on funding for scientific research, diplomatic efforts to secure the release of detained Americans, and economic discussions within government hearings.

On May 5, 2025, Hinson expressed her approval regarding the decision not to use tax dollars for gain-of-function research in adversarial countries such as China. She stated: "Fantastic news. Tax dollars should not fund gain of function research in adversarial countries like China."

The following day, May 6, 2025, she acknowledged the efforts of former President Trump and his team in securing the release of Americans wrongfully detained abroad. Her tweet read: "This isn’t being talked about enough! Thank you to President Trump and his entire team for relentlessly working to bring wrongly detained Americans home and reunite them with their families."

Later that same day, Hinson participated in a House Appropriations hearing where she engaged with Secretary Scott Bessent on topics ranging from improper payments to economic resilience and trade expansion. She remarked: "From the dias! Ashley Hinson has been serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Abby Finkenauer. Prior to her congressional role, she served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 until 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983, Hinson currently resides in Marion and is an alumna of the University of Southern California.
