Ashley Hinson comments on federal spending and signs bipartisan act

Ashley Hinson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 2nd district, has shared her perspectives on recent political developments and a tragic event through a series of tweets. Hinson, who succeeded Abby Finkenauer in 2021, is known for her active role in legislative matters and her commitment to public service.

On January 28, 2025, Hinson criticized President Biden's handling of taxpayer dollars. She stated that "President Biden treated hard-earned taxpayer dollars like monopoly money." She further emphasized the Trump Administration's approach by saying it is conducting "a top-down review of federal spending" and underscored the importance of fiscal responsibility by adding, "We cannot keep spending into oblivion."

In another tweet dated January 29, 2025, Hinson expressed support for President Trump's recent legislative action. She announced that "President Trump just signed the bipartisan Laken Riley Act — a bill I proudly cosponsored — into law." She highlighted the administration's fulfillment of promises to prioritize Americans over criminal aliens and concluded with gratitude towards President Trump for enhancing national safety.

Lastly, on January 30, 2025, Hinson addressed a tragedy at DCA with profound sorrow. She wrote that she was "Beyond devastated by tonight’s tragedy at DCA," urging prayers for victims and their families while acknowledging the efforts of first responders as the nation awaited further information.
