Ashley Hinson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 2nd district, shared her views on various issues through a series of tweets on December 12, 2024. Hinson, who succeeded Abby Finkenauer in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021, used her platform to express opinions on immigration policies and cybersecurity threats.

In a tweet posted at 00:58 UTC on December 12, Hinson expressed her agreement with an unspecified topic using emoji symbols " https://t.co/VfSB4GTBCU".

Later that day at 15:56 UTC, she criticized blue state officials for their focus on defending illegal immigrants instead of aiding American citizens. She stated that sanctuary jurisdictions should not receive federal funding "Imagine if blue state officials spent their time & resources on helping American citizens rather than defending illegal immigrants. Sanctuary jurisdictions shouldn’t get a penny from the federal government."

At 17:57 UTC, Hinson addressed concerns regarding China's compliance with international norms. She affirmed her support for the SHIELD Against the CCP Act as a measure to counter threats posed by China to cybersecurity and national security "The CCP has never – and will never – play by the rules. I proudly supported the SHIELD Against the CCP Act to ensure we are countering CCP threats to our cybersecurity, border security, or national security."
