Ashley Hinson discusses new legislation and commemorates Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congress member representing Iowa's 2nd district, shared several updates through her Twitter account in early December 2024. Hinson has been serving in this capacity since 2021, after replacing Abby Finkenauer. She was previously a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021.

On December 6, 2024, Hinson expressed her enthusiasm about the passage of her legislation aimed at addressing China's trade violations. She stated: "Excited that my legislation to combat China’s trade violations, including tariff evasion & use of slave labor, passed the House." She emphasized the importance of not allowing China to dominate and highlighted this as a significant milestone in collaboration with Trump.

The following day, on December 7, 2024, she marked Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day by honoring American lives lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor and World War II. In her tweet, she said: "December 7th, 1941, is a date that will live in infamy." Hinson underscored the enduring debt owed to those who sacrificed their lives.

Later on December 7th, Hinson welcomed home members of the Iowa National Guard returning from deployment in Kosovo. Her tweet read: "Welcome home to the 33 Iowa National Guard soldiers who were deployed in Kosovo for the past year!" She expressed gratitude for their service and described witnessing emotional reunions with loved ones.
