RedTail Volleyball student-athlete Jada Golden-Smith has been named Scheels Female Athlete of the Week for her performances in the All-In Volleyball Opening Weekend Tournament at the UW Health Sports Factory in Rockford, Illinois on August 19-20.
Jada did really well at the tournament hitting 0.522 in the four matches with 46 kills, two service aces, 10 digs, one solo block, and 12 blocking assists.
Jada helped lead the RedTails to finish the weekend 4-0, taking down Carl Sandburg College, State College of Florida, Kaskaskia College, and Waubonsee Community College. Since then, the RedTails have gone on to be 8-1 with their most recent game Wednesday, August 31.
"We are so excited to have Jada joining us this year," said head coach Tyann Wolfensperger.
"She is a super dynamic middle with great experience and an excellent work ethic."
"I think our first time competing together went great, we really clicked for just getting started," said Jada.
"I wouldn't be able to get anywhere without my teammates and they are such a big part of my success!
I have very high hopes for us this year and cannot wait to see our improvements throughout the season."
Golden-Smith is originally from Cedar Falls.
