Nurse Pinning Ceremony Held on January 12

Hawkeye Community College recently issued the following announcement.

Eight Practical Nursing and 24 Associate Degree Nursing graduates were honored during a pinning ceremony held Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Tama Hall. 

All were December 2021 graduates of Hawkeye's Nursing program. Each graduate received a pin and a traditional Nightingale lamp, a symbol of the nursing profession that originated with Florence Nightingale. 

Student speakers were Associate Degree Nursing graduates Kaity Klotzbach and Julie Schwickerath, who also lead the Student Nursing Association. Faculty speakers were Teresa Culpepper and Catherine Ewers.

Each graduate was allowed to invite a friend or family member to assist with their formal pinning, after which all graduates recited their respective pledges.
