People who use the Iowa Lottery app may have noticed an issue with one of the app's functions following a technology update to the lottery system's central gaming system on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Lottery players were unable to use the app's ticket-checking function after the system underwent a "once-a-decade" update, according to a tweet from Iowa Lottery.

"We are aware of the outage and are working to have that feature on the app live again as soon as possible," the Iowa Lottery tweeted Sept. 27. "In the meantime, players are welcome to check their tickets at any Iowa Lottery retail location. Or they can check their winning numbers at ialottery.com."

Iowa Lottery continued to tweet that people could still use the app to enter tickets into lottery promotions, since that process differs from checking tickets on the app.

As of Sept. 28, people were still having issues with the ticket checking on the app, according to Radio Iowa. People generally use the app to check if their lottery ticket was a winner and get information about Iowa Lottery.

Iowa Lottery was aware of the issue and technicians were working to fix the problem and get ticket checking working once again on the app, Radio Iowa reported.
