Union Community School District recently issued the following announcement.
We are excited to welcome back our students to the new school year 2021-2022. Listed below are events that we have planned to transition and ease students and parents into the school year and in preparation of the first day of school on Monday, August 23 for Dysart-Genesao and La Porte City Elementary buildings.
Preschool Students | Aug 19, Thursday
4 year old preschool students of both Dysart-Geneseo and La Porte City will have an Open House on the same night as the elementary 1st-5th grade students, Thursday, August 19, from 6:00-7:00pm. Students may bring their backpacks and parents will get a chance to meet their child’s teacher. Home visits for preschool students will be done the week of August 23. Those will be scheduled at the Open House. The first day for preschool students will be Tuesday, August 31st.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK)Students | Aug 19, Thursday
The district’s Transitional Kindergarten program, held in the La Porte City Elementary building, will have an open house during the afternoon on Thursday, August 19. These will be set up with you by our TK teacher, Mrs. MIller. She will contact parents by the second week in August. You will have 15 minutes to ask some questions and have a brief discussion about the school year. You may also drop off materials.
Kindergarten Students | Aug 20, Friday
New this year, we will have our Kindergarten students attend a Kindergarten Orientation from 8:00-11:30am on the morning of Friday, August 20 at each elementary building.
Your child will experience a half day of kindergarten, may bring school supplies, run through classroom routines, visit the lunchroom , and tour the building. Students should arrive at 8:05 and will be dismissed at 11:30. Please plan to say your goodbyes prior to the 8:05 start times.
First through Fifth Grade Students | Aug 19, Thursday
Our annual Elementary Open House will be held on Thursday, August 19 from 6:00-7:00pm for incoming first through fifth grade students. Students may bring their backpacks and parents will get a chance to meet their child’s teacher.
