U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson gave an updated on her progress as the new U.S. Representative for Iowa's first congressional district.

A few of her recent major focuses include farmer's rights and the biofuel industry.

"Since taking office, I have officially visited all 20 counties in our district at least twice, from talking with farmers in Osage to meeting with broadband providers in Anamosa, touring small businesses in Northwood and Maquoketa, and hosting in-person town halls in Manchester, Oelwein, and Vinton," Hinson said in a Twitter update

Iowa's First Congressional District has been fiercely contended with Hinson, a Republican, taking the seat from Democrat Abby Finkenauer in the 2020 general election

"I've been collecting feedback, stories, most importantly ideas from Iowans that I continue to bring back with me to Washington, D.C.," Hinson said in her Twitter post. "Iowans across our district are tired of the chaos and dysfunction in Washington, D.C, and they're also tired of their taxpayer dollars being treated like Monopoly money as the administration and Democrats in Congress announce trillion dollar spending package after trillion dollar spending package. Iowans work hard for their money, and they don't want to be stuck with a bill for policies that they don't support,"

Iowa legislators are fighting to protect Iowa farmers' control of their land through the 2020 Navigable Waters Protection rule, an article from CBS2 Iowa reported

Introduced in April of 2020, the new rule revises the Water of the United States Rule from 2015. That rule would have given the federal government the power to regulate the water in 97% of Iowa, the CBS article stated.

The rule is in danger of being repealed by the Biden administration, according to the article.

Hinson is looking to stop that from happening.

"Now, additionally, between the administration ignoring the needs of the biofuel industry here in Iowa and also the plans to repeal the 2020 Navigable Waters Protection rule, our farmers and our rural communities feel right now like they are under attack," Hinson said isn the Twitter post. "And as our economy reopens and life starts to get back to normal, I will continue to advocate for the needs of rural Iowans and rural America. I'm fighting to protect your taxpayer dollars and bring those Iowa kitchen table perspectives to the policymaking tables in Washington, D.C."
