Waterloo City Council decides future of $11.5 million Con-Trol expansion

Construction 1200x675

The Waterloo City Council has casted its vote on whether the $11.5 million Con-Trol developments will be approved, The Courier reported on April 4.

The council was scheduled to vote on the project Monday, April 6 via a public hearing concerning the warehouse, which will sit on 176,980 square feet if approved. It’s slated to be located between Newell Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Its current location is just east of this.

If approved, the city will have to provide the land, a grant that costs just under $1.52 million to help improve the soil conditions, along with 0% property tax rebates that would last for eight years.

On top of that, the city will match a $1 million grant via Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy.

While the project has been in talks since before July of last year, it was postponed so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers could help fix the traffic flow between Con-Trol and nearby John Deere centers.
