Ashley Hinson, U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, posted a series of tweets in mid-July 2025 addressing topics ranging from honoring veterans to fiscal policy and national security.
On July 15, Hinson recognized the milestone birthday of a local veteran: "Sending birthday wishes to WWII veteran and Iowan Don Swanson! We salute you today & always. Happy 100th birthday! "
The following day, on July 16, she commented on national safety under former President Trump: "Americans are safer because of President Trump’s leadership."
On July 17, Hinson addressed ongoing fiscal challenges in Washington: "Passing the rescissions package won’t solve all of our fiscal problems, far from it. But it marks the beginning of change in Washington — ensuring every single taxpayer dollar is accounted for and spent wisely to advance American interests instead of being treated like monopoly"
Hinson has served as the representative for Iowa's 2nd District since replacing Abby Finkenauer in 2021. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion, Hinson graduated with a BA from the University of Southern California in 2004.
