Ashley Hinson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing former President Donald Trump and his policies. Hinson, who succeeded Abby Finkenauer and previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021, commented on the anniversary of an assassination attempt on Trump, highlighted fiscal achievements during his administration, and promoted his economic agenda.
On July 13, 2025, Hinson reflected on the first anniversary of an assassination attempt against former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. She wrote: "One year ago today, President Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, PA. An attempt to not only destroy the life of a former and future president, but also to tear apart the heart & soul of our nation. I think God saved President Trump’s life in Butler,".
The following day, July 14, 2025, Hinson cited CNBC while referencing government budget surpluses under Trump's presidency. She stated: ".@CNBC: 'The government last posted a June surplus in 2017, during President Donald Trump’s first term.' President Trump delivers."
On July 15, 2025, Hinson announced her upcoming appearance on Fox Business to discuss Trump's economic policies. She wrote: "Tune in! Joining @Varneyco on @FoxBusiness NEXT to talk about President Trump delivering on his America First economic agenda for working families."
Hinson was born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently resides in Marion. She graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 2004.
