Ashley Hinson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa's 2nd district, has recently shared updates on her legislative efforts and political stances through a series of tweets. Hinson, who succeeded Abby Finkenauer in 2021, has been active in addressing issues ranging from veteran healthcare to international trade practices.
On June 15, 2025, Hinson highlighted her bipartisan legislation aimed at ensuring quality healthcare for Vietnam veterans. She urged followers to "Read more about my bipartisan legislation ensuring Vietnam veterans have the quality healthcare they deserve".
The following day, June 16, she expressed concerns about China's activities within the United States. In a tweet, she stated that China engages in various illicit practices such as stealing seeds and setting up illegal police stations. She noted her participation with Bradley Devlin and The Daily Signal to discuss these issues: "Whether it’s stealing our seeds...one thing is clear—China does not play by the rules."
Later on June 16, Hinson announced progress on the HALT Fentanyl Act. The bill aims to permanently classify fentanyl as a Schedule 1 substance to address the ongoing crisis by ensuring those responsible face severe penalties. She remarked: "The HALT Fentanyl Act is on the way to President Trump’s desk."
Ashley Hinson was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1983 and currently resides in Marion. A graduate of the University of Southern California with a BA obtained in 2004, she served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 until joining Congress.
