Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congress representative for Iowa's 2nd district since 2021, has been actively engaging with key figures in government agencies to discuss national security and immigration issues. On May 14, 2025, she communicated via social media about her discussions and inquiries directed at officials from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

In a post dated May 14, 2025, Hinson shared that she was "Talking to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons about how Congress can support efforts to ensure @ICEgov and @DHSgov have the resources they need to deport illegal aliens and fully secure our border." She encouraged followers to tune into the Homeland hearing conducted by the House Appropriations Committee.

Later that day, on May 14, 2025, Hinson highlighted her concerns regarding sanctuary cities in another post. She mentioned asking "Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons to share more about how Democrat-run sanctuary cities are disrupting ICE’s efforts to dismantle transnational criminal networks and keep our citizens safe." Her statement emphasized her view that leaders of sanctuary states and cities prioritize criminals over public safety.

Additionally, on May 14, 2025, Hinson announced an upcoming conversation with USCG Acting Commandant Admiral Kevin Lunday. She indicated plans to discuss strategies for combatting illicit trade activities. Followers were invited to "tune in to @HouseAppropsGOP's Homeland hearing" for more details on this discussion.

Ashley Hinson has served in Congress since replacing Abby Finkenauer in 2021. Prior to her current role, she represented Iowa's constituents in the state House of Representatives from 2017 until her congressional election. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion, Hinson is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
