Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congress representative for Iowa's 2nd district since 2021, has been actively engaging with key figures in government agencies to discuss national security and immigration issues. On May 14, 2025, she communicated via social media about her discussions and inquiries directed at officials from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

In a post dated May 14, 2025, Hinson shared that she was "Talking to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons about how Congress can support efforts to ensure @ICEgov and @DHSgov have the resources they need to deport illegal aliens and fully secure our border."
