Male Athlete of the Week-D'artagnon Beaver
RedTail cross country runner D'artagnon Beaver has been named Scheels Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Region XI Championships in Fort Dodge on October 30.
D'artagnon has been an incredible leader throughout the cross country season. He won the Division II Region XI Cross Country Championship this past weekend, dominating a very competitive field. D'artagnon was named the Athlete of the Year for Division II Region XI. He was top 12 between both Division I and II. D'artagnon's first place finish, followed by teammate Brennan Sauser in second place, helped the RedTail Cross Country team take home the conference championship with a score of 62, beating Southeastern in second place by 68 points.
"Dart's lead-by-example mentality has become an incredible asset to his entire team," said coach Hunter Lavallee. "His ability to rely on his discipline to combat adversity has set the tone for this entire program. Leading into this weekend, Dart had his eyes set on the team title and knew his job was to compete for the individual title. He executed a very smart and strategic race that led to his individual title. He helped his teammate Brennan Sauser, who also had an incredible race, maintain composure in the race plan and come out and finish second overall. Both men overtook the number one ranked male individual. Dart and Co. will look to carry this momentum into the National meet in Tallahassee on November 12."
Beaver is originally from Rockford, IL.
