Fort Dodge–RedTail Volleyball had a tough game as they took on the Iowa Central Community College on Wednesday, September 21, at 7:00pm where they fell 3-2.
This matchup was set to be a good one from the beginning with Hawkeye coming in being ranked 13th and Iowa Central being ranked 8th. The first set between the two teams was taken by Iowa Central with a score of 25-18. Going into the second set the RedTails would battle to squeak out a 25-23 victory. It was a back and forth match as Iowa Central would take the third set winning 25-23. The RedTails were pinned back against the wall but would fight back to win the fourth set 25-21 to force a fifth set. Iowa Central was too much in the fifth and won the last set 15-9 and would go on to win the match 3-2.
Head coach Tyann Wolfensperger had some positive words after the game.
"We had a hard battle with Iowa Central. They are a great ranked team," she said. "We played tough and just didn't come out on top. We are excited to maybe have the chance to play them in regionals."
The RedTails next matchup will come at home vs Illinois Central College on Friday, September 22, at 5:00pm.
