Hawkeye’s women’s volleyball lose against Nebraska

The Nebraska Huskers womens’ volleyball team continues to roll after beating Hawkeye's women’s volleyball last week.

Nebraska was coming off beating the Northwestern women’s volleyball team in four straight sets before they then took on the Hawkeye's women’s volleyball squad. according to SB Nation.

The win over the Iowa marked Nebraska’s second straight win in the Big Ten conference.

The Hawkeyes women’s volleyball subsequently lost to Michigan State on Oct. 1 and Michigan on Oct. 2. They'll look to regroup when they go on the road and take on Wisconsin on Oct. 6.

“Nebraska Volleyball takes on Iowa in Big Ten Play,” Twitter user Kerstin Deppe tweeted after the match.

The volleyball team ending losing in three sets (25-17, 26-24, 25-21) to the No. 12 Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team, according to Hawkeye Sports.    

Among the highlights for the Hawkeyes was senior outside hitter Courtney Buzzerio who recorded 13 kills, while Jenna Splitt completed 16 assists and Mari Hinkle with 11 digs.

After being swept by Michigan on Oct. 2, Buzzerio said that the team needed to find its rhythm so that it can better compete.  

“Keeping the ball in play is really key,” Buzzerio said, according to The Daily Iowan. “I think we had too many unforced errors. Our serving, especially in the first set, was not too hot. We were able to make adjustments in the second and third to improve during the match, but we need to be better.”

The loss leaves Iowa 0-4 in the Big Ten and 2-12 overall putting them at the bottom of the Big Ten standings, The Daily Iowan reported.
