Pella aims to make buying windows as easy as clicking a few buttons on a computer for those in Waterloo, Iowa.
The designer and manufacturer of windows and doors launching an e-commerce website with the goal of bringing online price transparency to the industry as well as an easier way to buy custom products.
"Our customers wanted a path for online purchase, and we're delivering that by bringing e-commerce to our category," Emily Videtto, chief marketing officer for Pella Corporation, said in a press release. "This is the fastest way to customize a window and have it delivered directly to the homeowner. No other company in our category is doing this."
Pella is beta-testing its e-commerce product powered by Elastic Path, in 11 different cities, three of which are in Iowa including Waterloo, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, the press release said.
They plan on rolling the program out nationally after a trial period in these areas, the company said.
Homeowners in those trial markets can shop Pella's collection of wood and vinyl windows and doors online starting now.
The company plans to have most product lines available to purchase online in this year and homeowners will be able to filter by material type, product line and price range.
Future plans call for additional features and options like professional in-home measurement verification, and Pella Certified installation.
They also plan to expand the offerings through additional features and options like in-home professional measurement verification and installation, the press release said.
In order to get the process going, homeowners go through customizing their window with the features and options they want and create an account upon checking out on the Pella website, the release said.
Pella also said in the release that a variety of tools are available online to help customers and homeowners measure and find the right windows for each project.
