Six new grants have been added to the Black Hawk County COVID-19 Disaster Response fund, increasing the total to $315,705.
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa oversees this fund and awards grants to nonprofits that serve Black Hawk County.
To qualify for a grant, nonprofit organizations must provide basic needs and services or work with families who have been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, according to KGAN.
Receiving the grants currently are 1st Kids Preschool and Child Care, EMBARC, Hospitality House of the Cedar Valley, Jesse Cosby Neighborhood Center, St. Luke's Episcopal Church and Waypoint Services.
Funds are released on a rolling basis because fundraising is continuous throughout the pandemic. This enables resources to be quickly directed to needs as they arise.
