UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA: UNI School of Music to host guest Austin Crumrine in recital

University of Northern Iowa issued the following announcement on Oct. 7. 

The UNI School of Music will host an unaccompanied tuba recital performance by guest artist Austin Crumrine at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. in Davis Hall, Gallagher Bluedorn on the UNI campus. 

Austin Crumrine is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate in tuba performance at The Ohio State University where he serves as graduate associate for the tuba/euphonium studio. He received his Bachelor of Music in tuba performance from the University of North Texas (UNT) and his Masters of Music in tuba performance from Baylor University. 

While at Baylor, Crumrine served as the teaching assistant for the Wayne Fisher Jazz Program. He has performed with many top-notch collegiate ensembles including the UNT Wind Symphony, Baylor Symphony Orchestra, and additionally has performed with the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band.

 In the summer of 2013, Crumrine studied under world-renowned tuba soloist Øystein Baadsvik at Le Domaine Forget in Quebec, Canada. He was also a member of the 2015 Disneyland All-American College Band where he performed on sousaphone, electric bass and upright bass. Crumrine served as the tuba apprentice for the Hot Springs Music Festival Orchestra for their 2018 season. Crumrine enjoys playing many different styles of music including classical, jazz, soul, rock, pop and contemporary worship.
