Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, shared a series of statements on September 9, 2025, addressing her motivations for public service, her responsibilities toward constituents, and concerns about national security.

In an early morning post on September 9, Hinson wrote: "I’m in this fight because I’m a mom. I want to ensure my kids, and yours, grow up in an America with opportunity, prosperity, and security."

Later that day at 15:36 UTC, she highlighted one of her key roles as a legislator: "Serving Iowans is the greatest honor of my lifetime, and one of the most special parts of my job is being able to nominate remarkable, hardworking students from our district to attend the United States Service Academies. For more information on the nominations process or how to"

In a subsequent tweet at 17:09 UTC, Hinson addressed cybersecurity concerns related to foreign actors: "This is a brazen and unacceptable breach of privacy and security. We will not relent in holding the CCP accountable for engaging in cyber warfare and undermining the U.S."

Ashley Hinson has represented Iowa’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Abby Finkenauer in 2021. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion, Hinson graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 2004.
