Ashley Hinson, U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, recently addressed several policy issues on her social media account, focusing on agricultural regulation and immigration enforcement.

On July 23, 2025, Hinson thanked Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds for supporting her legislative initiative: "Thank you, @IAGovernor, for leading the charge in support of my Save Our Bacon Act. We will put an end to Prop 12 to protect our producers and lower costs for consumers!"

The following day, she highlighted concerns about California’s Proposition 12 by quoting a new report from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA): "NEW from @USDA: Compliance costs with California’s Prop 12 'disproportionately affect small and mid-sized producers, who face tighter margins and less access to capital. As of the first quarter of 2025, 12 percent of small pork operations have exited the market or shifted'"

Later on July 24, Hinson criticized media coverage regarding immigration enforcement: "Fixed this for you, @washingtonpost. ICE agents are enforcing the law. The mainstream media continues to echo the Left’s narrative to sympathize with criminal illegal aliens—but never the Americans impacted by their crimes. @RapidResponse47 @DHSgov"

Proposition 12 is a California law setting animal welfare standards for products sold within the state regardless of where they are produced. Critics argue that it imposes financial burdens on out-of-state farmers and affects national pork supply chains.

Hinson was born in Des Moines in 1983 and resides in Marion. Before her tenure in Congress began in 2021 after succeeding Abby Finkenauer, she served four years in the Iowa House of Representatives and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.
