RedTail Volleyball kicked off the season on the road August 19th, winning four straight matches in the OWT Tournament in Rockford, Ill.
The RedTails took on Carl Sandburg College in their first match winning in four sets (25-15, 25-9, 25-27, 25-19). Following their first win, they matched up against State College of Florida. The RedTails took an early lead, winning the first two sets but were battle tested and taken to a fifth set which the RedTails would win to take the victory 3-2 (25-16, 25-16, 24-26, 18-25, 15-7).
The following day, the RedTails took on Kaskaskia College which also took five sets to defeat as the RedTails went down early 2-1, but marched back and won the last two sets to get the victory (25-21, 20-15, 11-25, 25-18, 15-11). The RedTails last matchup was against Waubonsee Community College which they won impressively in a 3-1 match after losing the first set but then battling back to win the next three sets (21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13).
Head coach Tyann Wolfensperger had some positive words after the first tournament of the year.
"This weekend the girls had the opportunity to play some really great teams and did a great job of making adjustments," she said. "We are really excited for this season to see what our girls can do."
The RedTails next matchup will come Wednesday, August 24, at 6:00pm. at Mount Mercy University and then Friday, August 26, at Parkland College at 2:00 p.m. to follow.
