On Thursday, March 17, 2022, a resident of 903 West 10th Street in Cedar Falls called 911 on the report of a male that had broken into their residence. The homeowner reported that they heard the front door of their house being kicked down. When the homeowner went to see what was going on, they found the suspect inside of the residence taking items. The homeowner would report that the suspect fled the area, leaving in a white truck with a blue tarp covering the back.

A short time later, officers would locate a similar white truck with a blue tarp across the back. Officers attempted a traffic stop and the driver did not stop trying to drive away from the area. The suspect continued for several blocks and then jumped from the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. Officers gave chase and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

During the initial call of the burglary, another resident called in that their garage had recently been broken into at 1109 Tremont where a bicycle was taken. The bicycle would later be located with the suspect and his truck.
