Iowa scored a close, come-from-behind, five-point win over Maryland, led by a big scoring night from Keegan Murray.
The University of Iowa men’s basketball team won 80-75 against the Maryland Terrapins.
“I think we maintained our composure" Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said, according to Hawkeye Sports. "Maryland is a talented team. (Head coach) Danny (Manning) is doing a great job.”
Iowa's leading scorer was sophomore Murray, who scored 35 points. This was the first conference victory of the new season for Iowa, SB Nation reported. It was a come-from-behind win for Iowa, who trailed by four at the half and had to rally to pull away in the second half, according to Hawkeye Sports.
The game was hosted by Iowa. Despite having to come from behind later, Iowa got off to a good start with a 24-12 lead. Iowa would take its first lead of the second half with 12 minutes left in the game and never trailed in the game again.
Iowa's 14 transition points and 17 second chance points were key elements in their victory, according to Hawkeye Sports. Filip Rebraca assisted Murray in the scoring by adding 13 points and Murray also grabbed 8 rebounds in addition to his points.
