A new poll conducted in the state of Iowa this week found that former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden for favorability among residents should the two hypothetically face off in 2024.
The data collected from the poll, which sees Trump and Biden in a theoretical match where the two would run for president against each other in 2024, shows that Trump leads among Iowan voters by 11%, according to the Des Moines Register.
"In a hypothetical 2024 match, Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by double digits in Iowa Poll > Three Questions, Who are these poll takers, Who are the people in Iowa, and Where have they been for the last five years? I am just pro America and equal Justice. I will vote for whoever!" said one tweet regarding the poll results on Monday.
During the 2020 election, Trump defeated Biden in Iowa by 8%, but he's now up 11% following the first year of the Biden administration, according to the Des Moines Register.
In addition to the 11% lead overall, 51% of Iowa voters also expressed that they would vote for Trump, while 40% said they would vote for Biden, according to The Hill. The increase in Trump’s support in the state could possibly be linked to new support from independent voters in the state.
