Iowa Total Care gives grants to provider facilities for improvements to accessibility for people with disabilities. | Pixabay/pxby666
More than a dozen providers in the state will be able to improve accessibility for people with disabilities thanks to grant funding provided through a partnership with Iowa Total Care and the National Council on Independent Living.
The grants combined total is more than $168,000, according to a release from Iowa Total Care.

Fourteen providers in Iowa are set to receive grant funding, the release said. The facilities awarded grant dollars include: Historic Bluffs Family Practice, Guthrie County Hospital, Crossroads Behavioral Health Services, Heartland Pathways Inc., Decatur County Hospital, Countryside Medical Clinic, Plains Area Mental Health Center, Siouxland Mental Health Services, CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank, Iowa Family Counseling LLC, Hancock County Health System, Greater Sioux Community Health Center Inc., Exemplar Care and Nashua Family Chiropractic PC.
The grants aim to help people with disabilities and are part of Iowa Total Care's new Provider Accessibility Initiative, according to the release.
The accessibility initiative is designed to help increase the number of facilities that meet both the minimum federal and state disability access standards, the release said.
