The City of Cedar Falls announced its recipients of the 2021 Cedar Falls Business and Industry Awards and Representative Citizen Awards.
Frank Darrah was given the honor and named Representative Citizen of the Year at the 2021 award ceremony.
"When you volunteer to lead and recognize the value of the average citizen's caring input, it helps out, it helps you, and it models involvement behavior for others," Darrah said, according to a Cedar Falls web post.
Before retiring after 35 years of service, Darrah was a Special Education Supervisor and adjunct, the City of Cedar Falls said on its website.
Through the years, Darrah's community service has included sitting on the City Council, the Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Planning and Zoning Commission, in addition to many other fundraisers, local projects and other volunteer opportunities, the City of Cedar Fall detailed.
This year's honorees were recognized on June 3 at the Diamond Event Center, the City of Cedar Falls said on its website.
The goal of the program is to recognize businesses, groups or people that have continually shown investment and interest in the community, the city said on its website.
