City of Independence issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.
The traffic control subcontractor is planning to come in on Friday, August 21, 2020, and set up the Phase 1 Traffic Control. As a reminder, this phase maintains westbound traffic only on the 1st Street (Wapsi River) bridge and detours eastbound traffic at 2nd Avenue SE to the 2nd Street bridge. Please click on Additional Info to see a PDF map for how traffic will be detoured. The rehab work is scheduled to start on Monday, August 24, 2020.
