CITY OF CEDAR FALLS: Cedar Falls to Hold Special Election

City of Cedar Falls issued the following announcement on Feb. 7.

The Cedar Falls City Clerk’s Office received a “Petition requesting Special Election to fill a vacancy in the office of Council Member At Large for the City of Cedar Falls Iowa” on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

The petition was received without objection so the process will be as follows -

The following two items will be placed on the city council meeting agenda for February 17, 2020:

The petition will be filed with the official records of the City Council.
There will be a resolution calling for a special election to fill the vacancy for the office of City Council At-Large, and directing the City Clerk to file the resolution with the Black Hawk County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections so that a date for the special election may be established.

The County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections will determine the date of the special election. The city will continue to keep the community updated as the process continues.
