Ashley Hinson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 2nd district, has shared several updates via her social media account. Her recent posts highlight significant national policy developments and achievements.
On March 7, 2025, Hinson announced the launch of a new White House Office of Ship Building aimed at revitalizing the U.S. commercial shipbuilding sector. She emphasized the decline from producing 70 ships annually in 1975 to less than five today while noting that "China now builds 1,700 ships annually." The initiative seeks to change this dynamic.
In another post on the same day, Hinson advocated for a deregulatory approach by proposing to cut ten regulations for every new one added. Citing analysis from 2023, she stated that "the total cost of federal regulations in 2023 was $2.1 trillion," which equates to $15,788 per U.S. household. She criticized what she referred to as President Biden’s complex regulatory environment.
Also on March 7, Hinson announced a significant security success with the capture of the terrorist responsible for the Abbey Gate bombing that resulted in the deaths of thirteen American servicemembers. In her words: "This evil terrorist was brought to justice." She asserted a firm stance against terrorism by declaring there would be "no mercy for terrorists."
