City of Cedar Falls recently issued the following announcement.

Outdoor Warning System Test

Date: February 2, 2022

Time: 11:00 AM - 11:05 AM

Address: Cedar Falls, IA 50613

Monthly testing of the Outdoor Warning Siren System in Black Hawk County is scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month. Time of the test is 11:00 a.m. The siren sound is one tone with a steady wail lasting for three minutes. In the event of actual severe weather conditions, to avoid confusion, the test will be canceled. If the test is canceled because of severe weather, the test will be conducted on the next clear day at 11:00 a.m. During extreme cold weather the test will be canceled.

Black Hawk County Emergency Management Agency requests assistance from the public. We need citizens to contact our office when you hear the siren activation during the test. This will assure that all outdoor warning sirens are operating properly. The number to call to report siren activation is (319) 291-4373. Thank you for your help.

During an actual event, the purpose of the Outdoor Warning Siren System is to alert people who are outside to seek shelter inside in a tornado safe location and turn to a local news outlet for additional information. If you have any question contact Emergency Management at (319) 291-4373.
