Alex Veatch, former Iowa police officer, has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse after an inappropriate interaction with a fifteen-year-old. The charges mounted against Veatch include enticing a minor and lascivious acts with a minor. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations may file more charges as their investigation continues.

"On November 12, 2021, at the request of the Pleasantville Police Department, Division of Criminal Investigation agents began a criminal investigation into allegations of sexual contact," according to a release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Court documents allege that Veatch engaged in these activities, including cutting the minor he interacted with, and he did so while he was a police officer. Veatch was arrested in his home Nov. 15.

"It's really heartbreaking because these are people communities inherently place their trust in,'' said Adam DeCamp, special agent in charge at the Iowa Department of Public Safety, KCCI reported. “And that's why it's very important when that does happen we are very diligent and we are very swift in our execution of the investigation so we can bring answers to the community."

Adam Decamp has been special agent in charge at the Department of Public Safety since 1996.

Before his stint in law enforcement, Veatch used to serve in the Iowa National Guard. He is currently in custody at the Jasper County jail.
