City of Hazleton issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.
All grave decorations will be removed by the cemetery staff after October 15th. This keeps the cemetery looking neat and clean by removing the old faded decorations. New decorations may be placed after November 1st. These decorations may be on a Shepard’s hook and will remain until March 15th.
However, it is recommended that all Shepard’s hooks be removed on October 15th for the winter. If a hook becomes frozen in the ground it may be necessary to cut it at ground level for a possible winter burial.
