City of Cedar Falls issued the following announcement on July 23.
Beginning Monday, July 27 at 5:00 am, Cunningham Construction will have a temporary lane closure at the intersection of S. Main and 2nd St. This is to allow for a new water main installation along West 2nd St without impacting local businesses. The contractor will be removing one concrete panel in the southbound lane and will detour southbound traffic only east to State St, south to 4th St and west to Main St. Northbound traffic will not be impacted.
This closure will last no longer than 48 hours and will be reopened as quickly as possible on Tuesday. The southbound pedestrian walk will be closed during this time and will be rerouted to the east side of the street.
