American Airlines recently resumed its twice-daily service from Waterloo to O'Hare International as city and regional local officials hope local passenger demand will keep the flights in operation.
American Airlines resumed its flight service July 7, according to a recent announcement on the City of Waterloo's website.
Waterloo Regional Airport Director Keith Kaspari said he is extremely pleased with American Airlines' decision to resume the flights to Chicago's O'Hare International especially during a tough time for the airline industry due to the pandemic.
“In this very difficult time for the airline industry, the return of Waterloo’s new and twice-daily schedule is excellent news for the entire Cedar Valley for either business or leisure travel," Kaspari said in the city's announcement.
Waterloo's Mayor Quentin Hart said he feels the flights will help bring the local economy back during this period of recovery.
"As Waterloo and Northeast Iowa continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, having a dependable flight schedule with frequency is a very important part for the bounce-back of the Cedar Valley economy," Hart stated in the announcement.
Flights can be booked at www.aa.com or by calling American Airlines at (800) 433-7300.
