Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, city public facilities such as golf courses, tennis courts and other recreational facilities will be closed through April 30.

The order aligns with a directive by Gov. Kim Reynolds that limits groups of people in RMCC Region 6. Those include for recreational and leisure activities, sports and social gatherings.

According to News 7 KWWL, the affected city facilities include the Pat Bowlsby Memorial Dog Park, the Byrnes Tennis Center and the city’s three golf courses. They are the Gats Golf Course, South Hills Golf Course and the Irv Warren Golf Course.

The closures are similar to others in neighboring communities, such as Waverly and Cedar Rapids.

Public parks are still open.  However, public restrooms will be closed and water fountains will not be available for use. Visitors should space themselves at least six feet apart from other people or households, and wash their hands.

Reynolds signed the State Public Health Emergency Declaration for the region on April 16.
