The Kimball Ridge Center at 155 E. Ridgeway Avenue will be turned from vacant space to a temporary clinic by MercyOne.
According to KWWL News, the makeshift clinic will be used to test and asses any COVID-19 cases.
The President and CEO of MercyOne Northeast Iowa, Jack Dusenbery, said their team has been looking at resources to help the community.
"We know the needs of our communities can change quickly. Our team has been thinking on our feet, being creative, and looking at the resources we have available to meet the demands of our patients in Northeast Iowa. The building was available, more secure than a tent, and perfect for keeping people out of the unpredictable Iowa elements," he said.
According to MercyOne, the new center will not act as a walk-in clinic, but rather an assessment center. It will enable people who have been referred by private physicians, over-the-phone-assessment, online virtual visits or Urgent Care.
