City of Independence issued the following announcement on Mar. 3.
We would like to thank our partners at the Buchanan County Community Foundation along with Advanced Auto and True Value for their generous assistance in helping us acquire new equipment. With the help of these partners, we were able to purchase new and updated equipment allowing us to help keep not only our citizens safe, but also our law enforcement officers safe as well. While we hope that catastrophic events never happen, it is a great feeling knowing if they do our officers will have the equipment needed to keep everyone in our communities safe. It is great partnerships like these that help promote Public Safety, and we look forward to continuing these partnerships in our future endeavors.
With the Grant awards, we were able to purchase Three (3) Ballistic Shields with high intensity LED lights, One (1) Blackhawk Battering Ram, Three (3) Active Shooter Halligan Tools, Four (4) Sledgehammers, Seven (7) Pry Bars, Seven (7) Bolt Cutters, and Two (2) Battery Jump Packs.
