U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson tested positive for COVID-19 after first experiencing symptoms Jan.13. This comes after a recent visited Hinson made to a senior center. She is taking measures to isolate herself following the positive test.

This is the second time Hinson has tested positive.

“Yesterday afternoon, I began experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms,” Hinson said in a post to her Twitter account Jan. 14. “I took a COVID-19 test and the results were positive.”

Hinson discussed the measures she is now taking to isolate herself in a press release.

“I am isolating and following (the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s) guidance as well as the advice of the Attending Physician, and am currently working remotely in Washington, D.C.,”  Hinson said in the release. “My team and I will continue working around the clock for Iowans and I look forward to being back at work, in-person, soon.”

Just over a week before the positive test on Jan. 5, Hinson went to the Good Samaritan Society which is a senior center in St. Ansgar, Iowa, to briefly oversee the facility and talk about regulations pertaining to the coronavirus. At present, there are believed to be 50 “long term care outbreaks” in Iowa, according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard.
