RedTails Mens Cross Country wins the Region 11 Division II Championship

Men’s 8k Race Recap:This race is definitely one for the books. Hawkeye Men’s Cross Country team goes down in history for the first time ever winning the Region 11 Division II Championship. As a team they scored 45 points to secure the win.  D’Artagnon Beaver came in first for the team and 1st overall DII with a time of 27:08 and then being awarded athlete of the year, first team all-region, and second team all conference. Brennan Sauser came in second for the team clocking in at 27:43 with being awarded honorable Mention All-Conference and First-Team All-Region. Zach came in third for the team and sixth overall clocking in at 28:21 with being awarded 2nd team All-Conference. Hunter Hughlette came in 4th for the team, 15th overall with a time of 29:51. Chase came in 5th for the team, 22nd overall with a time of 31:24. Bryce Grimsson came in 6th for the team, 26th overall with a time of 32:19. Victor came in 7th for the team, 27th overall with a time of 33:02. Kory Sweeney came in 8th for the team, 28th overall with a time of 35:27.

Head Coach Corinne Gadient had some postive words after the RedTails last competition.

“I am extremely proud of how all the guys competed today,” she said. “Today marks the first time ever the men’s cross country team will go down in history for winning a championship. This team has been through a lot of transitions and adversity and it feels good to have that finally pay off.”

The RedTails next competion will come November 11, in Tallahassee Florida for the NJCAA Nationals.
