RedTail Soccer Falls to Iowa Western

RedTail Men’s Soccer faced off against a tough Iowa Western squad on September 14, falling 4-1.

The RedTails would get on the board first with a goal from Joe Farlow #11 Assisted by David Lapan-Islas #12 halfway through the first period. With three minutes left in the first the Iowa Western Reivers would get on the board to tie it up just before half. The Reivers would score with 32:40 left in the second period to take their first lead of the game. Then with 24:28 left in the game the Reivers would add another goal to extend their lead to 3-1. The Reivers would add another score on a penalty kick with 14:26 left in the game to put it out of reach for the RedTails. The rest of the game would remain scoreless to give the Reivers a 4-1 victory over the RedTails. 

Head coach Anthony Velez had some positive words after the game. “Going into the game we went in with a plan and in the first half it worked,” he said. “There were still moments that I think we could’ve done better and maybe could’ve gotten another one. Playing the number 1 team in the nation was never going to be easy and I’m very proud of how most of the game went and how we handled certain situations.”

The RedTails next matchup will be on the road Saturday, September 17, at 1:00pm at Iowa Western Community College.
