Ashley Hinson, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district, posted several messages on October 6, 2025, addressing breast cancer awareness, the ongoing government shutdown’s impact on federal food assistance programs, and allegations regarding FBI surveillance of Republican lawmakers.

In her first post of the day, Hinson highlighted the importance of early breast cancer detection. On October 6, 2025, she wrote: “This #MammographyMonday, I want to remind everyone just how important it is to get screened for breast cancer. Over 300,000 people were diagnosed last year alone.

Early detection truly saves lives. Let’s continue to spread awareness, support, and hope for our communities.”

Later that afternoon, Hinson commented on the effects of what she referred to as the “Schumer Shutdown.” She stated on October 6, 2025: “Day six of the Schumer Shutdown. Nearly seven million women and children who rely on federal food assistance through WIC are at risk of losing this support if Senate Democrats refuse to reopen the government.

This funding helps moms purchase baby food, basic produce,”
referencing concerns about potential disruptions in benefits provided by the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

In an evening post on October 6, Hinson raised concerns about alleged political targeting by federal law enforcement agencies. She wrote: “New: Biden’s FBI spied on 9 of my colleagues in the House & Senate — on top of the 100+ other conservative groups targeted by Biden’s weaponized FBI during Arctic Frost.

Biden’s FBI was brazenly targeting & spying on conservative groups & Republican lawmakers.

Thanks to”

Ashley Hinson has represented Iowa’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Abby Finkenauer in 2021 and previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and currently residing in Marion, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in 2004.
