Ashley Hinson, U.S. Congresswoman representing Iowa’s 2nd district since 2021, announced key updates on her official Twitter account on April 30, 2026, highlighting local leadership and legislative developments.

In a post recognizing community service, Hinson stated on April 30: “Fire Chief Greg Smith has spent decades putting his life on the line to protect Cedar Rapids. Through every emergency and disaster—including the 2008 flood and the derecho—he has led with great courage and deep loyalty to our community. Later that day, she addressed agricultural policy achievements by announcing: “FARM BILL PASSED! Iowa ag needs this. Huge wins for Iowa, including my Prop 12 fix (legislation I’ve been leading for years to SAVE OUR BACON & protect against costly CA mandates), new tools for precision ag, & flood resiliency investments. Had to fight many in my own party to”.

Hinson’s tenure in Congress began after succeeding Abby Finkenauer in 2021. She previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Born in Des Moines in 1983 and residing in Marion, Hinson holds a BA from the University of Southern California.
