Ashley Hinson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Iowa’s 2nd district, has recently expressed her views on various issues through a series of tweets. Known for her active engagement with constituents and advocacy on legislative matters, Hinson addressed both local tragedies and national policies in her posts.

On July 7, 2025, Hinson conveyed her sorrow over a tragic event in Central Texas. She tweeted “My heart is so heavy from the devastating tragedy in Central Texas. I cannot imagine the heartbreak these families are feeling, living their worst nightmare as a parent. Matt and I continue to pray hard for the first responders & volunteers, the grieving families, all those still”. This tweet reflects her empathy towards affected families and support for first responders involved.

Later that day, she highlighted tax reforms aimed at tipped workers through legislation known as “The One Big Beautiful Bill.” On July 7, 2025, she stated “The One Big Beautiful Bill ends tax on tips. I’ve heard from countless tipped workers in Iowa—servers, bartenders, and salon workers—who are frustrated that the IRS takes a cut of what they earn through good service.” She emphasized that individuals should retain their full earnings from tips.

On July 8, 2025, Hinson endorsed an editorial by The Wall Street Journal regarding misconceptions about President Trump’s legislative efforts. She tweeted “.@WSJ editorial board clearly lays out the frequent misconceptions and lies that the Left continues to perpetuate about President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.” urging readers to consider its key points.

Ashley Hinson has been serving in Congress since replacing Abby Finkenauer in 2021 after previously serving in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2017 to 2021. Born in Des Moines and currently residing in Marion, she holds a BA from the University of Southern California.
